Man, that ain't too hot a showing for nVidia's next gen card against ATi's last gen when they're on equal footings!

yeah, lol. oh, x card doesn't run y cards highly optimised path much better than y card itself, oh, shock horror, oh the shame, and with beta drivers none the less. it won't be doing any emulation, as al lthat was done was the cards id was masked tricking far cry into thinking it was an r3xx , but it wont be efficenet in the SLIGHTEST. lol. personally i think it's impressive it is brute forcing ATI's path and still coming out so well.

It doesn't force the 6800 to "run ATi's optimized path", it forces the 6800 to run the default dx9 path rather than a mix of dx8 & 9 stuff. This is NOT good for nVidia, period. Hopefully it's a driver bug on alpha drivers or some such, but don't think it's ATi vs nVidia game paths because it's simply not.

nope. the "r3xx" path doesnt include any ATi specific extensions either - its pure DirectX specification code

Ah, but does it force the 6800 to run everyhting in DX9? IE: Run everything with PS2.0? Because I'm damn sure that the 9800 uses a mix of DX8&9 stuff, as it uses both PS1.1 (DX8) and PS2.0 (DX9) If DriverHeaven expect to be taken seriously (and I'm sure they don't, as they're yet another ATI-centric site) they should have investigated it more thoroughly and provided a more detailed background when posting the 'benchmark'

... ofcourse and make the image look worse and with artifacts.. , this doesnt seem to be code HLSL optimisation(in NV30 it seems that the order of sending stuff into the shaders matters) , this seems to be just straight downgrade HLSL code (Shaders 1.1 in favour of 2.0) to run things faster.

Both the NV3x and R3x0 paths use a mix of 1.1 and 2.0 shaders at their highest quality settings. However, the NV3x path uses a lot more 1.1 shaders (and thus less 2.0 shaders) than the R3x0 path. Not to mention the use of partial precision in the NV3x path which isn't present in the R3x0 one.

I surely hope ATI releases its crap soon and beats Nvidia, so those pathetic ATI fanboy post all over the websites and forums will stop finally. my god...

Oh yea, the fanATIcs act this childish right now because they are unsure what to expect from their "god". thats why they come up with all this speculative crap. if ATI beats nvidia it will be a fact that noone can deny. nividiots never been that pathetic to post so much shit and speculative benchmarks etc.
