I might be more impressed with ATI's commitment to AMD64 if they removed their heads from their asses and released some 64bit drivers for their Radeon cards.

The problem is that ATi only release WHQL drivers, since there's no official 64bit windows (that the average user should be running) there won't be certified drivers for a while.

The thing is, they don't only release WHQL drivers.... at least, when it suits them not to :) What they do though is rename them as hotfix sets or similar. The thing is, the kind of people who are going to spend hundreds on 64bit processors, along with more hundreds on top of the range Radeon cards, are the same kind of people who'll spend hundreds on MSDN subscriptions.... as they're anal in trying to get the most performance from their systems. It seems that ATI are more than happy to take the money off performance whores by selling their top of the range cards at $500 - $600, but less concerned about catering to the needs of this small segment of their community.

First off, you can get a MSDN subscription for a hell of a lot less than $2000. Secondly, your 'acquaintance' with that system would see no benefit in having a MSDN subsciption as there's little of value in it to benefit his 32bit system that he can't just get off the shelf. Thirdly, there are systems selling (granted, Intel based) with 64bit XP, a great many business apps have already been ported to/rewritten for 64bit and for those machines to run they need 64bit drivers. Forthly, I didn't start with "They'll only write..." stuff. You just kinda made it up (like an awful lot of your post it seems). Lastly, Epic has stated that UT2004 will get 64bit support. Sure, that's only one company for now, but Epic have become something of technology leaders and their engine licencing will ensure that more games will be able to adapt to the environment quickly. There are also reviews that tend to show improved performance in 32bit games/bench's in a 64bit environment. >>Don't start with "I'm not a pirate I have MSDN" subscriptions, that's complete BS.
