Published by NewsFactory 0

VR-Zone has reviewed the latest card from Triplex. The new Eye Bomb series from the taiwanese vendor, in this case the Radeon 9800 Pro card comes in a nice clear acrylic box! Here's a snip.

This card looks exactly like the ATI reference card and is clocked at 380/340Mhz default using the 2.8ns Samsung memory chips. We have compared this card against the Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, GeForce FX 5800 Ultra and the Radeon 9700 Pro. We have managed to push the core clock to 420Mhz and memory clock to 360Mhz on stock cooling and further to 490/370Mhz on better cooling.

OrbiTouch: A Keyless Keyboard reviewed @ Extremetech

Published by [NT] 2

The peeps at Extremetech have reviewed "OrbiTouch: A keyless Keyboard" here. Snip "Imagine a keyboard with no space bar, no letters, no numbers? no keys at all. In fact, forget the entire idea of a keyboard, as you know it, altogether. Just reach down with both hands and grab your knees (assuming you have two knees), and close your eyes. Only subtle differences exist between this sensation, and the experience of first lowering your hands and gripping the OrbiTouch Keyless Keyboard".

The New GeForce FX 5600 Ultra

Published by NewsFactory 0

HardOCP have thrown up their review of Nvidia's upgraded GeForceFX 5600 Ultra video card, apparently a real replacement for the mainstream performance sector, the new FX chip is higher clocked, cooler and overclockable.

The NV31 core is based off of the technology of the NV30 GPU. That means it fully supports every 3D feature present on the NV30. You will find the CineFX engine bringing with it support for Floating Point 128bit Internal Precision along with DirectX 9 level shader support of Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.0.

ABIT IC7-G Canterwood P4 Motherboard @ Techseekers

Published by NewsFactory 0

If you are looking for the best performing, P4 motherboard then look no further. The ABIT IC7-G is built for overclockers by overclockers and it shows. The wide range of FSB frequencies and voltage adjustments just show where this board is aimed at. And in fact the BIOS is so well laid out that even the uninitiated can build themselves a sweet overclocked system. The IC7-G has one of the best filled rear IO panels I have seen, with a huge array of sockets. The board layout is also excellent, and by keeping the CPU in far from the edge allows the installation of larger quieter coolers.

Marvel Comics Fan Grills @ D V Hardware.net

Published by NewsFactory 0

Fan grills have two main functions: First they offer protection, so you can't accidentally hurt your fingers by putting them between the fan blades, to prevent any of your pets to hurt himself (like a cat tail between the fan blades... gotta hurt I think), or to prevent any wires from hitting the fan blades. Another, and these days even more important reason why people buy them is because they look pretty.

Shuttle Springdale SB61G2 XPC Small Form Factor

Published by [PM] 0

Hexus in the UK were given the chance to check out Shuttle's latest smal form factor PC the SB61G2. It comes with Intel P4 support up to 800Mhz FSB, S-ATA, Firewire, LAN, USB 2.0, 6-channel onboard audio... The SB61G2 is Shuttle's vision of a truly high-performance small-form-factor PC. By borrowing heavily from the new Springdale chipset, the SB61G2 is able to amalgamate some of the more desirable features into the cute little package. The most notable of these, in our opinion, is the inclusion of direct S-ATA support stemming from the ICH5 SouthBridge. The lack of space in the SB61G2 is almost perfect for the thin, slinky S-ATA cables. Additionally, great care has been taken with the placement of various headers and ports.

M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Soundcard @ TechSpot

Published by NewsFactory 0

Thanks to Creative Labs, high-resolution PC audio support is something of an ambiguous area and as was found with the original Audigy, using 24-Bit/96kHz DACs doesn't necessarily mean it the card does play audio at that rate.

So is the Revolution a similarly quasi-24-Bit/192kHz soundcard?

NH thought they'd give you readers something to read while waiting for their two upcoming videocard roundups. Gainward were nice enough to send them their GeForce FX 5600 Ultra! Here's a snip.

We think that the GeForce FX 5600 Ultra is probably the most well rounded product in the FX series as of yet. It has a great price/performance ratio and remains very competitive when going up against ATi's Radeon 9500 Pro/9600 Pro."

Seagate Cheetah 10k.6 147 GB SCSI 320

Published by NewsFactory 0

Seagate is the largest producer of magnetic storage products, so it is no surprise that it is the leader in the production of high performance SCSI drives. Seagate is now on to their sixth generation of 10k rpm SCSI drives, which is no longer the fastest spindle speed. However, with a data density that claims 36 gigabytes per platter. The Cheetah 10k.6 series boasts a maximum storage capacity of 146 gigabytes - couple these specifics with claimed 4.7 ms seek times and an Ultra320 interface, Seagate has created an extremely attractive hard drive.

Corsair Hydrocool 200

Published by [PM] 0

Overclockers.com received a Hydrocool 200 unit from Corsair, renowned company for their high-end memory products. If you want to learn more about the unit, read our article over here first. The review is very positive overall. Hydrocool 200 is an external unit. At its highest speed (Turbo), Die Simulator results place the HydroCool at the top of watercooling kits tested to date (Heatsink Ranking). At its low fan speed, results still place the HydroCool in the top rank. This is much better than I expected, considering the smallish waterblock.

IOSS Bios Saviour @ TechSpot

Ever flashed your BIOS before? If you are anything like us it?s for sure you have done it at least once, if not dozens of times, either because of CPU compatibility issues or just because you want to keep up with the latest release from your motherboard manufacturer in hope of getting some extra tweakability.

Now what would happen if the flashing process failed for any reason? You know this may happen to you, but this time it happened to me, I was left alone in the cold with a corrupt BIOS and no possible way of booting.

Trios II Multi Drive Selector - The Solution To Your Dual Boot Hassles?

Published by NewsFactory 0

The Trios II allows you to have up to 3 operating systems on one machine and switch between them with the push of a button. I had heard about the original Trios some time ago and thought, "Sounds cool. Probably doesn't work." Then the Trios II came out and I began hearing good things about it from people I knew and trusted. Since my foray into the Linux world, the first and most popular question I get is, "How do I dual boot with Windows?" My answer was always, if you have to ask, don't do it. Why? Because I've seen even alpha-geeks hose their machine dual booting.

P4 2.4B-2.4C/865PE-875P vs AXP 2500+/nForce2

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just got word that those Mad Shrimps have thrown up their P4 2.4B-2.4C/865PE-875P vs AXP 2500+/nForce2 review! Here's byte.

With the newly released Springdale (865PE) and Canterwood (875P) motherboards, along with the 800 FSB P4's, Intel is giving AMD a very hard time.

Until recently, AMD's Tbreds managed to be a very decent alternative for overclockers thanks to their adjustable multiplier. A cheap XP1700+ coupled with a good nforce2 motherboard managed to outperform some Intel 3.06Ghz overclocks, thanks to their high overclockability and far higher front side speed bus.

Another GeForce FX 5900 Ultra Review - Detonator FX On The 14th

Published by [PM] 2

This time the boyz from Hexus (UK) jump in the field. For reasons of space and overview I will add all follow ups from now on to this post, under the read more option. Hexus.net: The cooler has undergone a makeover in the interim period between 5800 Ultra and 5900 Ultra releases. It's difficult to be objective, but it appears to put out no more than half the 5800's racket when running full tilt in 3D mode. Loud but bearable is how we'd put it. The short space of time between the NV30 and NV35's launch tells us that the changes relate to bandwidth, primarily. Sure, there's a touch more bandwidth-saving going on and some advances in rendering shadows, but the NV35 is just an evolution of a decent design.
