$100 Laptop Production Begins
Hardware suppliers have been given the green light to ramp-up production of all of the components needed to build millions of the low-cost machines. Previously, the organisation behind the scheme said that it required orders for 3m laptops to make production viable. The first machines should be ready to put into the hands of children in developing countries in October 2007.
Uber-small projector from Microvision
Microvision will present a ultra-small projector for cell phones and other portable devices next week at CES 2007. This device is small enough to be embedded in devices like cell phones or PDAs. If the image quality is good enough this could become a nice gadget to integrate into players like the iPod video or expensive mobile phones. Most people don't really want to watch long videos on small phone or iPod screens but this projector could be the solution for this problem.

Cingular Releases 3G Phones & Video Service
Cingular released its first two high-speed phones on its new UMTS/HSDPA network today: the long-awaited Samsung ZX10 flip phone and LG CU320 slider. Cingular also launched its own Video Service, delivering TV content to subscribers with the new phones. Most of the video clips are free for subscribers to Cingular's $19.99/month Media Works package, which will include clips from CNN, Fox News, ESPN, ABC, and the Cartoon Network.
