NV30 High Cost High Performance

Published by Newsfactory 0

Vr-Zone.com have posted some details about Nvidia's Geforce FX aka NV30.

The initial cost of NV30 is expected to be high due to the cost of 10 layers PCB and use of 500Mhz GDDR-II but its performance is expected to be much better than current R300. The high core clock of 500Mhz is attained due to new process technology (0.13 micron using copper wiring) as well as using new package technology (Flip chip package) ....Click on the above link for more Info.

ATi Business Development Manager Toshi Okumura Interview

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word from Crow @Darkcrow.co.kr that he's Interviewed ATI's Business Development Manager Toshi Okumura! Here's a snip.

Darkcrow why does the Radeon 9500 Pro have a different PCB layout than other R300 families ?

Toshi Okumura The R9500 PRO PCB was redesigned due to the reduce cost of the PCB. As you will notice the size of the RADEON 9500PRO PCB is smaller than the RADEON 9700 family. The R9500PRO is targeted at a lower end then the RADEON 9700 PRO so reducing cost is very important. Also, the RADEON 9500PRO is 128bit memory versus the 256bit memory of the 9700 family of products. This fact also required a PCB re-design.
