MSI Introduced First GeForce Ti 4800

According to X-Bit Labs MSI today introduced the first Geforce 4 Ti 4800 graphics card.
The card is equipped with 128MB of BGA DDR SDRAM, D-Sub and a TV-Out connector.
The GeForce4 Ti 4800SE is nothing more than the GeForce4 Ti 4400 but with AGP 8x support.

The graphics cards (SE version) should run at 300MHz for core and 550MHz for memory; in contrast, the GeForce4 Ti 4800 and Ti 4600 run at 300/650MHz for GPU/RAM. Price and availability for the card is not available yet.

Creative Audigy Series Has HyperThreading Issues

According to tests performed at Ace's Hardware by editor Sander Sassen there are severe stuttering problems with the Audigy series when HyperThreading is enabled using Windows XP Pro SP1. I got the exact same specification of a system except that 3.06Ghz CPU so I cannot confirm the problems experienced. Rumour is that Creative is going to address this issue in a driver update. However it bothers me that they did not do this in the last update since Creative's driver politics is rather conservative (like 1 update a year if ever.)

Today NVIDIA unveil more details on their hotly anticipated chipset NV30, now to be named GeForce FX. Beyond3D has a preview, based on the details that we know at present! Here?s a snip.

Colour Compression - 4:1 Z compression techniques have been implemented in prior generations of hardware; however, Intellisample now extends that into colour compression. Again, a 4:1 loss-less compression technique is enabled on the pixel colour information. The process is enabled entirely through hardware and is transparent to the application. The biggest benefits of colour compression will be seen when FSAA is enabled! The preview still leaves a number of questions unanswered, however we are at the European launch today and we?ll be endeavoring to get answers to many questions.

Just got word that NVNews have posted their GeForce FX Preview and are keeping the article updated with coverage from around the web.

Our preview of Nvidia's upcoming GeForce FX graphics processing unit has been posted. The GeForce FX is being manufactured using TSMC's 0.13-micron process allowing the processor clock speed to operate at 500MHz.

While the GeForce FX continues to use a 128-bit memory bus, it has undergone further optimizations and also uses DDR2 memory running at an effective speed of 1.0GHz.

As expected, Nvidia will take the wraps off its new GeForce FX chip, once code-named NV30, at a news conference in Las Vegas, just before the Comdex Fall 2002 trade show today.

The GeForce FX will also improve PCs' capabilities to create realistic graphics more quickly, said Dan Vivola, vice president of marketing at Nvidia. The chip can render graphics as much as four times faster than Nvidia's current GeForce4 Ti 4600 processor.

The Magic 3 bypasses region coding allowing you to play import games, CD backups, DVD backups, and your EA sport backups directly with no more need for patching and/or swap tricks.
