THE JAPANESE EMBARGO on Intel's Pentium 4 2.80GHz chip appears to have expired because stores have started selling chips in Akihabara early, and so an enterprising journo bought parts and got his review up on the Web.
18477 3DMarks with R9700 @ RivaStation
RivaStation tried some extreme overclocking tests with the new ATI Radeon 9700 PRO. How far can you get with an extremely overclocked system?
Today I tried some extreme overclocking test with the new ATI Radeon 9700 PRO. How far can you get in an extrem overclocked system? I ran the Radeon 9700 PRO at 400MHz core and 340MHz memoryclock in a Pentium 4 system overclocked to 3624 MHz (ASUS P4T533-C). RIVA Station / THG is currently #1 (I think this will not last too long) 1000 points ahead the old number 1 :-)

Gigabyte's Radeon 9700 Pro - Hitting 400MHz Review
Just got word that Anandtech.com have posted their Gigabyte Radeon 9700 Pro review, this beast can reach the dizzy heights of nearly 400MHz!! Here's a snip.
Powerstrip reported the core clock speed properly at 325MHz and reported the actual operating frequency of the memory at 310MHz (remember that the memory actually runs at 310MHz even though it transfers data twice per clock, which is why it is sometimes called 620MHz memory).
We played around with the settings and managed to overclock the R300 to an incredible 400MHz, an increase of 23%. The memory was only able to hit 337MHz DDR (effectively 674MHz), an increase of 8% but the core overclock was by far the most impressive of the two numbers.

KT400 Does Not Support DDR400
X-bitlabs reports that According to our sources, VIA KT400 can support DDR400, but only with two banks, as a result, mainboards with DDR400 support enabled, cannot function with more than two DDR400 modules. Furthermore, the problem may be even worse and these devices are even not able to work with more than one DDR SDRAM DIMM module running at 400MHz. The reason of such strange KT400 behaviour is a bug in the VT8368 north-bridge that VIA has not yet managed to rectify.

ATI Radeon 9700 Hits 17421 points in 3dMark 2001SE
Just saw this @ 3dgpu.com
It seems that the GeForce4 Ti graphics cards are no longer the top scorers using the 3dMark2001 SE benchmark. This score is from the new ATI Radeon 9700 series. What is really impressive is that this card's drivers have not even been optimized yet.
