AMD Preps 2x256KB L2 Athlon 64

DailyTech has managed to get a hold of an AMD engineering chip labeled "Athlon 64 X2 3600+ for AM2." According to CPU-Z, the processor is a 2.0GHz CPU, the same as the Athlon 64 Windsor 3800+.

As both my X1900 cards are cold bugged, while making a waterchiller for the cards, I tried SLI on Intel 975 Bad-Axe Motherboard with 2 x Inno3D 7900GTX at safe clocks of 980/980MHz. The result with Intel Conroe X6800 @ 4.75GHz is amazing! It hits 15,877 3D Mark 06, with my first run!

We got some interesting input on Intel not supporting SLI on its Conroe-supporting motherboards. Up until now, we, and our, sources have blamed it all on Nvidia but it turns out we might be wrong about that.

AMD wont be happy to hear of this news i'm sure. Although mentioned the other day that AMD's AM2 platform may yet be quite the competitor to Intel's Conroe with its reverse Hyper-Threading feature, more recent news has since surfaced over at the XtremeSystems forums.
