Gone are the days when processor names were something as simple as their clock speeds. If you wanted a nice and powerful 3GHz processor, you simply asked for a P4 3.0GHz and that was it. Ever since Intel has decided to revamp its naming conventions, the confusion makes you wonder if the whole idea of renaming was a smart move.

Dual Graphics Card Showdown: CrossFire vs SLI vs 16X SLI
Dual graphics cards for gaming is nothing new. We first had a glorious taste of SLI when we paired two Canopus Pure3D 2 3dfx Voodoo 2 based cards what seems like so many years ago. Our ultimate goal was getting Quake frame rates up as high as possible. Today we bring you some of the first benchmarks comparing ATI's CrossFire and Nvidia's nForce 4 SLI and 16X SLI. Quake frame rates are again a major benchmark, and so things change, but stay then at the same time stay the same.

nForce4 problems? @ TechReport
My article about building my new PC brought a lot of folks out the woodwork who shared similar problems with their nForce4-based systems. I work with nForce4 test rigs almost daily and have for the last year, and I've become acutely aware of some of the chipset's weaknesses and purported issues. Online forums are brimming with discussions of several key problems, as well. I noted some of these problems in my initial review of the nForce4 one year ago, and some of them persisted in April when the nForce4 SLI Intel Edition was introduced. From what I've gathered, the problems fall into a few main areas.
Radeon X1800 1024MB Cards?
We asked around and it turns out that the R520 memory controller is very flexible, and can support even future memory standards such as GDDR4 but more interesting is the fact that it will let you use more than 512MB of memory.

S3 unveils Chrome S20 series GPUs
S3 Graphics has just pulled back the curtains on its newest series of graphics chips, the Chrome S20 family. S3 turned to a new foundry partner, Fujitsu, to produce these chips, as we reported yesterday. Fujitsu manufactures the GPUs using a low-K, 90nm fab process, and S3 claims this advanced fabrication process, along with S3's own Power Wise power management techniques brought over from its mobile products, has helped the Chrome S20 series achieve killer performance per watt.
