Xbox 2 Design Pics Leaked?
Engadget.com have snagged 2 leaked pictures of possible concept designs for Xbox 2.
We?re not sure if these are legit or not, but an anonymous tipster who claimed to be a part of a focus group for the upcoming Xbox 2 sent us some questionable screengrabs of two of the ?logos and console designs being considered for the next generation Xbox system? (that quote according to the focus group material we saw).

Dual Core Processing: Over-simplified, Demystified and Explained
Short-Media have posted their latest article that looks at AMD's Dual Core CPU's! Here's a snip.
The latest buzz in the processor industry is about dual core processors. AMD may be the first to take the limelight with their announcement of dual core AMD Opteron processors set to launch in mid-2005 but Intel and IBM are cueing up their dual core processors as well.

Power Supply Roundup - Six PSU's fight to the death
Today Cameron Johnson over at TweakTown has posted a power supply roundup comparing some of the latest units from OCZ, Thermaltake, Vantec and Coolermaster. We?ll check out the appearance and features of each PSU and then put them up against each other and measure the type of minimum and maximum voltages each is able to deliver with a standard system and then an overclocked system based around an Intel Pentium 4 Prescott processor.
Radeon x700 vs GeForce 6600 Benchmarks
Just spotted this bit of Info posted over at Guru 3D
It looks like the Radeon X700 will be an interesting card also. It's doing a 425 MHz core frequency and was running 860 MHz on it's memory. Have a look at the results. BTW I don't have a clue what test system was used and what settings where used in terms of optimizations and such on both cards. Still this could be a nice indication of what to expect of the x700.

Dual 2.5GHz G5 PowerMac Liquid Cooling
Apple's dual 2.5GHz G5 PowerMac comes with a liquid-cooling solution as standard, to keep the heat under control without massive noise. AN OCAU reader pulled one apart and sent them a few pics of the cooling system
The forgotten component - What's up with computer audio?
Last month during QuakeCon it became clearly apparent that computer audio has become somewhat of a forgotten component in the computer industry when talking to gamers and listening to companies at the gaming event. TweakTown present some benchmark numbers of five different sound solutions as well as provide commentary along the way on our thoughts of computer audio solutions and what should be done to improve things using nVidia's SoundStorm APU as an example.

ATI Radeon 9250 Graphics Card Roundup ? Battle at the Bottom
Today TweakTown are going from one end of the spectrum to the other and taking a look at six graphics cards based on ATI's Radeon 9250 graphics core. We've got cards from GeCube, Elsa, Gigabyte, HIS, Sapphire and Powercolor. The Radeon 9250 is a sub $100 US graphics cards and offers value entry level performance - It's really the battle at the bottom but nevertheless requires coverage.
Game2XS Preview The GameTrak Device
Game2XS have a new hands-on preview of the GameTrak device that was being shown off at the ongoing EGN event in London. The idea for the GameTrak has already been touched upon by Sony with their EyeToy but GameTrak themselves are really throwing development support behind the device, with lots of games coming out soon. You can read what Game2XS thought of the GameTrak, in conjunction with the fighting game Darkwind.
Dual Core 90nm Opteron First Glimpse
AMDZone reports we've posted our full look at AMD's demo of their dual core 90nm Opteron from my visit their yesterday.
AMD recently announced they were demonstrating dual core 90nm Opterons here in Austin. Well we made sure we caught a glimpse and made the trek through I35 over and underpass construction to do so. AMD was demonstrating two 4P systems loaded with dual core systems. On AMD reference design running Linux, and the other an HP Proliant DL585 running Windows 2003 Server. Both indicated that 8 CPUs where installed, and both only required a bios update to enable dual core.

Sempron 2600+ vs Mobile Barton 2600+
As probably most of you already know, the release of the new "budget oriented" Sempron processors from AMD, designed for socket A motherboards, are meant to compete with the new Celeron D CPUs recently released by Intel. There are two versions of the Semprons, one for socket A and one designed for socket 754. The second one is to be used to make more common the platforms based for Athlon 64 (K8T800, nForce3...). Today at HWspirit we took Sempron 2600+ CPU and compraed it to a Mobile Barton with the same PR. Read the comparison here: Sempron 2600+ vs Mobile Barton 2600+
Tapwave Zodiac Review
ShackNews have thrown up their 3 page review of Tapwave's Zodiac which is a Palm based handheld games console.
The key thing to remember about this device is that it?s billed as a gaming portable first, productivity handheld second. This is a gaming site, therefore our focus is on whether or not the Zodiac is a premier player in this growing handheld gaming market. With that said, let?s take a look at the Zodiac hardware piece by piece.

Number of pipelines in GeForce 6800-non-Ultra products
Digit-Life reports recently we spoke about managing number of pipelines in GeForce 6800. The problem was cards with only 12 pipelines found for sale.
Together with the developer of RivaTuner, Alexey Nikolaychuk, as well as with many beta testers of the new version, we found out that a number of vertex pipelines can be disabled even if all pixel pipelines are in place. Like 5 or even 4 instead of default 6. E.g., MSI GeForce 6800 card that we mentioned several times has all 16 pixel pipelines (!), but still only 5 vertex pipelines instead of 6.

Non ultra 6800's - 1 or More Disabled Vertex Processors?
Thanks to Guru 3D for the Heads up!
Minutes ago I had a little chat with Alexey (RivaTuner programmer) who did quite an interesting finding. I was a little in doubt wether or not to post this but it seems that Alex is 99.9% certain of his findings. Now we always figured that the difference between the GPU's was based on core & memory clocks frequencies versus pipelines, yet he discovered something else. BTW this info might be a little to geek for some of you, if that's the case just skip this news bulletin ;)

DDR vs. DDR2
Overclocker Cafe have thrown up their DDR vs. DDR2 Comparison! Here's a snip.
Now that DDR2 is out, motherboard manufacturers have gotten geared up for it's appearance. Is now the time to go for the gusto and upgrade? Hopefully this article will help to shed some light on that question as we pit the new against the old.
