Electronic Arts has now released new client patches for Battlefield 1942, updating the 3D multiplayer action game by Digital Illusions to version 1.6.19. This large release adds the new BF1942 map 'Liberation of Caen', the new Secret Weapons of WWII map 'Raid on Agheila', new vehicles, map tweaks, Punkbuster support, a new scoreboard voting interface, improved server browser, and other enhancements and fixes. As usual, you can upgrade from the previous v1.5 or any older version, and the corresponding Win32 dedicated server is available as an upgrade patch or full install as well.

Activision have released patch v1.2 for Call of Duty updating the popular WWII FPS by Infinity Ward.

This release adds a new gametype (Headquarters) and several other new features, and also fixes a lot of single and multiplayer bugs (read full story for details). An updated dedicated Linux server is also available for download.

Version 1.60 of Vietcong has been released allowing owners of the original VC and the new add-on Fist Alpha to play on the same servers. It also allows the original to use the new skins,hats and weapons. A MP demo was also released to go with it.

3D Gamers reports that TDK Mediactive has released a second playable demo for World Racing, offering another chance to try out last year's modern racing simulation by Synetic. This demo features only the Hockenheimring track which you can race in the Mercedes Benz SLK 230 Kompressor.

The single-player demo of Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps is now available, offering an opportunity to try out the 3D real-time tactical combat game that is nearing completion at Digital Reality. This demo contains one mission from the Axis campaign of the full game.

3D Gamers reports that Activision has released the public source code for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, the free team-based multiplayer first-person shooter by Splash Damage. This package contains all the game source code, header files, menu definitions and other files for aspiring Enemy Territory modders, but it's not supported by id Software, Activision or Splash Damage.

3D Gamers reports that new patches for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield have been released to upgrade the English and all international editions of the squad-based tactical shooter by Ubi Soft to version 1.52. This release implements an auto-update system, support for custom operatives, compatibility changes for the upcoming Athena Sword mission pack, and many small bug fixes. A corresponding patch for the dedicated Win32 server is available as well.

3D Gamers AusGamers Adrenaline Vault

The Far Cry demo is now available for download, allowing you to try out this upcoming FPS developed by Crytek. This massive single player demo offers "a full island, several weapons, and plenty of enemies.

3D Gamers reports that as promised, the sadly-defunct Legend Entertainment has released a new patch for Unreal II - the Awakening XMP, upgrading the recent free multiplayer expansion for their sci-fi first-person shooter to version 7710. There's a small patch from the XMP edition included with Unreal II Special Edition and a full patch for the downloadable edition that offers a huge number of changes as detailed in the accompanying release notes. Finally, a corresponding standalone server is also available.

Ubi Soft has released the playable demo for Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time, offering the opportunity to try out last months's third-person acrobatic action adventure. Details on the demo's contents are scarce but it appears to contain a level from the early parts of the full game.

Gamer's Hell reports that Konami has released a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, offering no less than 27 minutes of in-game footage for this upcoming stealth action game. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes will be published in March 2004, exclusively for GameCube.
