Battlefield 1942 Retail Dedicated Linux Server v1.3 Beta 2: Icculus has released a new beta dedicated Linux server for Battlefield 1942, bringing Penguin-powered PCs in sync with the recent version 1.3 patch for Digital Illusions' vehicular first-person shooter. ID Software and Activision announced today they are canceling the retail release of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Despite a strong effort from talented developers, the single player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated. Canceling the release was a difficult decision made in the best interest of the Wolfenstein franchise and fans.

On Thursday last week it was posted on the official Unreal II forums that Legend Enterteinment is currently working with Creative to resolve a notorious crash issue with Unreal II related to the UALAudioSubsystem. Mark Poesch, QA Director at Legend said: "Turning off EAX may help avoid this problem. Alternatively, you may see an improvement by updating your sound drivers. Infogrames has released a playable demo of World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars, allowing you to try out this imminent racing sim by Ratbag. The demo lets you play Knoxville and Lernerville tracks in arcade and multiplayer modes with a choice of two different cars.

Electronic Arts sends along the SDK for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead, the World War II first-person shooter expansion by EA Los Angeles. EA and Maxis have prepared the first patch for the recently released SimCity 4. The patch is applied by a rather unique Active X plug-in installer. Haven't seen such a 'patch routine' before. Most importantly this patch adds (enhanced) support for ATI R300 based graphics cards.
