Westwood Studios has issued another round of patches for Command & Conquer Renegade, updating their 3D action game to version 1.037. As always, there are patches for the English and international editions and a corresponding dedicated Win32 server. This release addresses one crash to desktop in both client and dedicated server.

Hi All, Sorry for the confusion, but our colleagues at EA Taiwan have inadvertantly posted an old, work-in-progress version of the patch. That version was sent to them for review...but not for posting. We are still nailing down some issues which are in that version...and the official version has yet to be finalized.

Games Fusion has released the latest version of their replacement pack for Counter-Strike, Fusion Pack v10, to the public. This new version is "the biggest update since v6.5 and includes a wide variety of replacements including bug fixes and additional enhancements" (read full story for details). A small patch is also available for v10 that "corrects a few minor issues and also replaces a few items such as the Ak47 and some sounds

During Activision's third 2003 fiscal quarter conference call earlier today (you can listen to the conference call right here), execs at the company mentioned in passing that a sequel to last year's Quake III engine powered first person shooter Star Wars: Jedi Outcast was in the works to be released in their fiscal 2004 time frame (April 2003-March 2004).

Microsoft To Buy Vivendi?

Computer and Video Games reports that If insider speculation is to be believed, Microsoft has bought US publisher Vivendi, with an announcement to that effect due soon. Take a deep breath and reflect on the implications of that, if true.

Half-Life 2, Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Crash, Spyro, Lord of the Rings... Vivendi has an enormous portfolio boasting some of the biggest titles on all formats, and it would be an ultra-smart move on Microsoft's part to snap them up. Such a buyout, of course, would come at a terrifically high price, making the 365 million acquisition of Rare look like peanuts. But if anyone has the necessary funds, it's Microsoft.
