Today GameSpot had a chance to play Counter-Strike version 1.6, which developer Valve says will be released via its Steam content delivery application on January 16. The free update to the popular multiplayer shooter includes two new weapons, a counter-terrorist tactical shield, a new map called de_airstrip, and revamped versions of two old maps, de_inferno and de_aztec.

Valve sends word that their plan is to begin the 2.0 beta test of their Steam broadband content delivery system this Thursday, January 16. Included in the beta will be the release of Counter-Strike version 1.6, "which introduces new weapons (riot shield, FAMAS, and more) a new map (de_airstrip), as well as various fixes and tweaks." Also included in the new Steam beta will be a new version of TeamFortress Classic "featuring the introduction of the teleportation pad, a new map (ravelin), and more

File this under Rumor Mill: The February issue of Xbox Magazine claims that Valve has been working on a deal to make Half-Life 2 an Xbox exclusive. This wouldn't count out a PC version - which will certainly appear, but rather means the game won't be released on PS2 or GameCube.

just wanted to drop you guys a note on the planned update (fixes for exploits) and thereby opening an option for other fixes as well that we have for you. Although Unreal Championship can be patched to fix exploits, this is not by all means an easy task. I will not go into detail here other then saying that it is not the same situation like updates for PC based games. I will also go on and say that we do listen to our public and are in fact working hard to make sure that you have an awesome time playing our games.

So, I will have you know that there is some substantial work put into the upcoming patch that will fix some exploits that people have listed on this board. Some things were known (stats for instance) and some things just came up through the woodwork.

GameSpy have posted their Preview of Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome!

Not wanting to mess with a good thing, developer and publisher of Battlefield 1942, have opted to give the fans what they want -- new maps, new vehicles, and ongoing technical improvements and bugfixes. We made a trip up to EA's offices to get in some quality playtime with the expansion, and from the looks of things, Battlefield fans (like us) are in for a lot more online fun.

Shacknews reported: "Although the official website and PR's we've gotten have been shooting for January 14th, a number of reports have come in that SimCity4 is indeed available on a few different shelves around the US right now. To be specific, we've gotten 3 different EB reports in central and west coast, and a couple guys on the east coast saying the pre-orders have come in for the special edition."

Es sollte in den USA am 14. Februar in den Handel kommen, scheinbar wurde es frueher verschickt und nun schon zum Kauf angeboten. Daher gibt es auch neue Bilder!
