In September, the first COD expansion pack arrived, and we will review it to test out if this expansion preserves the main features of the original title, which would automatically qualify it as a must-have game. We take an in-depth look at this prestigious expansion in our Review.

This map pack is re-release of the critically acclaimed Community Bonus Pack - originally released for Unreal Tournament 2003. All of the maps have been converted in one way or another, from very subtle changes to new layouts and designs, along with various bug fixes. Along with this release we have added one bonus map.

Q. Will the boxed versions of HL2 require any sort of Steam installations?

Doug Lombardi: During installation the user will be prompted to authenticate the copy and create a Steam account. After that is complete, the single-player and LAN games do not require an Internet connection.

I have searched the web for some maps for Unreal Tournament 2004, i found nice looking maps with great looking textures and awsome weather effects. I know for sure that there is a map for every one.

id Software released the promised Software Development Kit for DOOM 3, their recent sci-fi first-person shooter. This SDK contains source code and header files for a variety of game subsystems, example maps and models, project files and more, but very little documentation.

There is now a playable demo of Sonic Heroes, offering the first chance to try out the upcoming team-based third-person platform action game by Sonic Team and Sega Entertainment. This demo contains the lengthy Seaside Hill stage, but the save game function is disabled.

A playable demo of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is now available, allowing you to experience the upcoming third-person acrobat action sequel by Ubi Soft Montreal. This massive multi-language demo contains an already familiar intro movie and (at least) one level situated on the ship from that movie, which also serves a tutorial.

Gamespot has confirmed that Half Life 2 has gone gold in their 'rumor control' labeling the rumor as not bogus.

"Ever since the release candidate for Half-Life 2 was submitted to VU Games in mid-September, a piñata has hung in the lobby of Valve's headquarters. The plan: to bust the sucker open when the game achieved gold status. Earlier today, GameSpot learned from an informed sourced that "the piñata has been broken" and the game has gone gold. Further evidence of the game's completion was a press release issued this afternoon touting the first review of "the entire game." Though nothing official has been announced yet, it appears the fat lady is at last clearing her throat."

Last night a pirated copy of Halo 2 was released onto the internet. Needless to say we think this really sucks. Aside from years of hard work being stolen from us, we've gone to great lengths to ensure that the details of the Halo 2 campaign remain a mystery for players to experience for themselves on November 9th. The sixth phase of the Half-Life 2 preload begins to Steam account holders today. This will allow users to download the Half-Life 2 maps in encrypted form. No purchase is required to pre-load Half-Life 2, but is required to activate the game. The moment the game is made available, those who have pre-loaded and purchased the game via Steam will be ready to start playing.
