Painkiller v1.3 Patch

DreamCatcher has now released a new patch for Painkiller, bringing the frantic first-person shooter to version 1.3. This release adds enhanced networking code, performance tweaks, support for All-Seeing Eye, gameplay improvements, bug fixes and more, and it's accompanied by a standalone Win32 server that allows server operators to host games without requiring to install the full game.

We have released a utility for those users who unfortunately lost their saved games and profiles after applying the 1.0.0.7 patch. The SaveFixxer utility will allow users to recover the lost save files by importing them into any profile created after the 1.0.0.7 patch has been applied. For those users who have lost their profiles as well as their saved games after installing the 1.0.0.7 patch, this utility can be used to recover the saved games from the deleted profiles as well.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Movies

3D Gamers reports that GSC Game World has released a set of four new movie trailers for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, showing more from their futuristic first-person role-playing action game in development. These "Behind the Game" clips come in low and high resolutions, and they demonstrate the game's premise and many of its features in a combined 14 minutes of gameplay footage narrated by THQ global brand manager Darryl Williams.

FarCry 1.2

Driverheaven have just published their latest article, which looks at the performance and IQ (or lack of it) when using FarCry patch 1.2.

In a few hours Ubisoft/Crytek will be releasing the much anticipated patch for Farcry which upgrades the game to version 1.2. As per most game updates there are various performance tweaks and bug fixes however in FarCry 1.2 we have the addition of Shader Model 3.0 features for Geforce 6800 series cards.

This planet is specially designed for massive naval battles: two equal continents are separated by sea. There are no small economy countries - only large and medium ones. Here's some interesting Info for Half-Life 2 posted over at Half-Life 2 Fallout! and don't forget to check out Mr Chimp's six-page write-up on Half-Life 2's Source engine! Great article well worth the read.

Half-Life 2 is about 3.5 GB uncompressed and about 2 GB compressed. This doesn't include CS:Source, HL-1:Source, DoD:Source, the SDK, or whatever. It's just the straight HL-2 sizes.

GameSpy have thrown up their preview of Tribes: Vengeance! Here's a snip.

Those familiar with the first two games will feel almost immediately at home in Tribes: Vengeance, even though it's now using a heavily modified version of the Unreal engine. In fact, the Karma physics engine has been completely ripped out and the Havok 2 engine is in its place. Despite these changes, the game feels very familiar.

Far Cry shader 3.0 Patch Arrives

Fido over at The Inquirer reports that I've just installed Far Cry 1.1 retail patch and found to my surprise that Shader patch 3 for Nvidia NV40 cards is already available.

The Far Cry web site actually talks about new 1.2 retail patch the one that the boys are still testing, but according to the site even 1.1 patch can support Nvidia shader 3.0.
