Modern-Warfare has been in development for 2 years, The download of the 120mb file will include 7 new maps, 15 new weapons, about 50 new skins and a flyable chopper with rockets and a minigun to keep you entertained. Wargaming.Net announces "Twin Islands" planet and a new patch for Massive Assault Network

This planet is specially designed for massive naval battles: two equal continents are separated by sea. There are no small economy countries - only large and medium ones. That will ensure that the players will have enough resources for recruiting big numbers of expensive units including Battleships and Carriers. The war on this planet will be full of D-Day-style amphibious operations.

Here's some interesting Info for Half-Life 2 posted over at Half-Life 2 Fallout! and don't forget to check out Mr Chimp's six-page write-up on Half-Life 2's Source engine! Great article well worth the read.

Half-Life 2 is about 3.5 GB uncompressed and about 2 GB compressed. This doesn't include CS:Source, HL-1:Source, DoD:Source, the SDK, or whatever. It's just the straight HL-2 sizes.

Tribes: Vengeance

GameSpy have thrown up their preview of Tribes: Vengeance! Here's a snip.

Those familiar with the first two games will feel almost immediately at home in Tribes: Vengeance, even though it's now using a heavily modified version of the Unreal engine. In fact, the Karma physics engine has been completely ripped out and the Havok 2 engine is in its place. Despite these changes, the game feels very familiar.

Far Cry shader 3.0 Patch Arrives

Fido over at The Inquirer reports that I've just installed Far Cry 1.1 retail patch and found to my surprise that Shader patch 3 for Nvidia NV40 cards is already available.

The Far Cry web site actually talks about new 1.2 retail patch the one that the boys are still testing, but according to the site even 1.1 patch can support Nvidia shader 3.0.

Critical Security Flaw Found in Unreal Engine

Security firm Secunia, has released a security advisory on the Unreal Engine used in Unreal Tournament 2004. It seems the Unreal Engine has a very dangerous security vulnerability in it that will allow malicious people to take over your computer. The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the processing of secure queries, which are used to verify that a queried server is a legit Unreal server. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending an overly long challenge string to a vulnerable server. Read more..

Just got word from the 'Reverend' aka Anthony Tan over at Beyond3D that their interview with Epic's Tim Sweeney on Unreal Engine 3 is out! Here's a byte.

Recently at the Game Developers Conference as well as at NVIDIA's launch of the GeForce 6/NV40, one of the highlights of both events was the demonstration of Epic Games' next-generation engine called UnrealEngine3 (UE3 for short). Although the engine is still about 2 years away from completion, its public showing in its current state left almost everyone in awe of the technologies showcased and as explained in snippets by Epic's co-founder Tim Sweeney.
