As VIAArena has restructured their drivers page it might not be as obvious as before that there are some special drivers released like the IDE ones. Anyway, here is a short description: The VIA IDE Filter Driver is supported under Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP. It is not supported under Windows NT. The filter driver cannot access I/O directly which means that it cannot handle some issues with certain devices. This is a limitation of a filter driver type.
