So Many Viruses... I JUST FORMATTED!
This is a discussion about So Many Viruses... I JUST FORMATTED! in the Everything Windows category; Okay I just reformatted my PC and I seem to have a good 4 backdoor viruses, 2 trojans, I got the SASSER WORM! and a stupid thing called f0r0r, which I had enough trouble getting rid of.

Okay I just reformatted my PC and I seem to have a good 4 backdoor viruses, 2 trojans, I got the SASSER WORM! and a stupid thing called f0r0r, which I had enough trouble getting rid of.
Anyways the point of my post is... why is it that within 10mins after reformatting my PC, was I able to get all those viruses!
I mean I didn't download anything at all. All I did was download some updates for my programs like ad-aware etc and then boom I get message saying my pc is going to be restart in 1minute (the Sasser worm).
Just curious anyways because id like to know like how it happens.

Any time i format the pc i always unplug my net from my pc.Always use that cool free update disk from microsoft that has pretty much all the updates,then i install norton,then i plug the net back in the pc and go from there.If u dont have that Cool Microsoft Update disk then install norton or whatever you use then update.

get a windows installation with SP1a integrated ... install MSblaster and sasser thingy before going to internet ...
then goto windowsupdate.com and you'l be fine ... if you install a unprotected windows what do you expect ?

I have the WinXP Pro with SP1a integrated. I guess that hasn't got the latest protection against Sasser. It blocked out the Blaster worm tho.

or just install SP2 on top of the fresh install ... that would do it, too :D
just install win, and without your internet connection active, ENABLE the firewall, and then connect, and download all the updates...

Go to http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/updates/ and gets the .exe update. Unplug the network cable, reinstall Windows XP. Apply the updates and install anti virus software along with the newest definition, and now go to microsoft and get the newer updated.
