did you try to deactivate any other boot device then CD ?
but then you have to watch setup ... when he restarts you got to change back to boot from HDD

is your cd-rom a primary device and not a slave.

when using backups of cd's boottracks are not always present. that may be your problem.

Installing from a slave cd-rom works...master/slave doesn't matter. Is ur winxp cd bootable?

Some BIOS will boot from only primary cd-rom devices.

hi,
ok it seems the new bios has solved the problem. Before i just got a cursor flashing when it should have been looking at the cd, but now it asks to press any key to boot. Thanks guys
