This is a discussion about A7N8X Changing CPU Multiplier in the General Hardware category; Just got an Asus A7N8X Mobo up and running, but im unable to change the multiplier in BIOS. The CPU im using is an XP 2200+, with the last trace on the L3 bridge closed. It has been working fine in other systems which i was able to use the lower multilpier settings.

I have tried all the different BIOS versions 1001.C, 1001.D, 1001.E, and the current 1001.G but all with the same result. The older ver will not post when I select the multiplier manually, and the current ver will post but stops at an error message "CPU clock frequency too high" or something simular.

I need your help, if you have any ideas or suggestions of some web sites that might offer a solution I would greatly appreciate it.

Well first off 1001D is for the non deluxe board!!!!
I wouldn't even try to load that bios on a deluxe board.
But to correct your problem with the overclock. Turn hold on all errors off!!!!! See if that works.

I am running currently overclocked XP2100; It is running very stable, that is until I tried to install the new bios 1001.G. No matter what setting I tried I kept getting the CPU overspeed error and it would stop; until I reflashed the bios back to 1001.E. Now its fine.
