VIA Releases KN400 Chipset For New Athlon XP-M Processor

Digitimes reports here that "soon after launch of the KT400A chipset for the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) desktop platform, VIA Technologies on March 12 introduced a new chipset, the VIA ProSavage KN400, supporting AMD?s new notebook-use Athlon XP-M processors. Incorporating the S3 Graphics UniChrome 2D/3D AGP graphics core with built-in MPEG-2 acceleration, the KN400 features a FSB (front-side bus) speed of up to 333MHz and support for a full range of DDR200/266/333/400 through its high-speed memory controller. Other features include support for USB 2.0, ATA-133 and 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet through an integrated VIA MAC and six-channel Vinyl AC?97 audio. The KN400 can be paired with VIA?s VT8235CE or the upcoming VT8237 south bridge chips, VIA said, and the chipset is currently shipping in volume.
