Official ATI Beta Driver Program Soon?

THG's David Stellmack wrote a report on Lanwar 18, a gaming convention in the Louisville, KY area. ATI representatives attended the fragfest to promote ATI and participate in the competition. ATI was a key sponsor of Lanwar 18. During the session ATI's Terry Makedon, Senior Product Manager for ATI's desktop software and Chris Hook, Catalyst PR manager, announced a new beta driver program. Because as I am curious myself what ATI is planning, I emailed Terry & Chris about what's coming up. I hope to receive a reply soon. Terry spoke at great length about Catalyst and ATI's commitment to building the best-in-class driver package for their products. He covered such issues as WHQL certification of drivers and drive stability. His biggest news of the weekend was the exclusive announcement this weekend to the Lanwar attendees that ATI would be starting a Beta program for driver testing in a further attempt to ensure that the highest quality of drivers are released. The new beta program will give real world users the chance to become more involved in the driver development process. Of course, this beta testing and feedback program will allow ATI the ability to any catch potential issues before drivers are WHQL certified and released.
