NVidia has done a great job with the control panel on these new drivers.

There's now a global Fast - Blend - High Quality open that sets both D3d and OGL with just one slider. The same goes for FSAA, no more going through both d3d and ogl to set individual settings.

They changed the way the refresh rates are set up in the registry again.

Anyone have any information on what the performance/quality slider actually does?

The "Application Controlled" option still exists in the Antialiasing settings of the Media Center on the taskbar, but is missing from the slider in the display properties.

Well, All I have to say is... nVidia... GET YOUR DRIVER CONTROL PANELS SORTED!!!

I lost 80 3D Marks, but that does not mean anything!!! So I guess these are as fast as the 40.72's. I will have a look at Unreal Tourney, and see if there is any changes there.

There is STILL the problem of currupt and missing graphics (And text all over places where it should not be!) in nearly ALL of the config panels, I can't beleve that this has not been fixed yet!!! (Since the original det 40's!!! How long have they been out for now?) This just makes the whole driver package look shoddy, and un-professional.

Come on nVidia, get and put in some decent control panels, with a few more hardcore tweakable options!

Or at LEAST, fix the ones that are in there already!

Hmmm, Control panels show up fine for me. Where do you have corrupt and missing graphics and misplaced text?

Hi, I have the currupt graphics in:

Info
nView Display Mode
Direct 3D Settings
Open GL

I have this on 2 different systems, both GeForce 4's
one is a 4200, and the other, a 4600

I have installed the drivers on a clean install of Win XP-SP1

And my own system has just been upgraded from the 40.72's, old drivers uninstalled first.

Any Ideas?

Hmm I just installed on 2 XP systems here (Both had 40.72 installed before) and the control panels look fine.

Check the file list in the control panel and make sure they are all the same version, the 40x drivers sometimes have trouble and use an older control panel .dll which causes problems.

Do you have sp1 installed? if you put it on after the drivers it's known to mess then up for not being MS ceritified.

I tried using the updated coolbits reg entry posted a month or so back, but it doesn't work for this release. Anyone know the correct entry to enable it, or is there any other program that will do the trick? I normally use Rivatuner, but it was broken after the 40.xx release when it came to overclocking my card.

I have the exact same problem. I have slipstreamed SP1 with Windows XP.

I do a clean install, install dets 40.71 and have corrupt nvidia control panels (missing graphics, text messed up). I have uninstalled those, tried 40.72. Uninstalled those, installed 41.03 - same problem.

It occurs here on 41.03:
info
nView display mode
Direct3D settings
OpenGL settings

The rest are fine!! I have had this problem for a while, I assumed it was everyone who was having this problem. Driver version information (on the nvidia control panel info screen) shows 4103 for every dll etc.

Graphics in games are as normal.

This is a strange one alright!!!

I have no problems with anything other than the control panels, all games are fine, and Windows is fine too.

I Have double checked all components of the drivers, and everything is the version that it should be!

I have no explanation for this problem, and the fact that some people are not having problems, and that some are? Could it be SP1?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I would be interested to see if the people that have the drivers working OK, are people that have not slipstreamed XP?

BTW, What's with this "Texture Sharpening" button???

I thought that the driver dev guy's were supposed to have removed it, as it serves no function???

Does the button work?
