The 1.6.5 update mainly addresses bug fixes, enhancing various functionalities within the software. Key improvements include better handling of light and dark modes for a more cohesive visual experience, enhancements to the color eyedropper tool, updates to scripter functions for easier automation, and better management of text properties panels. Additionally, it features improved on-canvas node editing and more reliable align and distribute tools. A crucial security update in this version also removes the ability to load SVG images from remote sources, addressing a potential vulnerability and underscoring the developers' commitment to user safety.

On the other hand, version 1.7.1 signifies a more extensive development effort, introducing new features that significantly enhance the user experience. Notable additions include a search function in Preferences to streamline navigation through settings and a Document Log interface that highlights issues directly to users, simplifying troubleshooting. Usability improvements in this version include enhancements to canvas interaction, updates to scripter commands, and improved color sliders for greater precision. Users can also manually toggle between light and dark themes, providing flexibility in visual settings.

Both updates aim to refine Scribus's overall usability, with enhancements across text properties, node editing, and object alignment and distribution. Users can download both versions from the Scribus website.

As the development of Scribus continues, future updates may focus on further enhancing collaborative features, expanding compatibility with various file formats, and integrating advanced design tools to cater to the evolving needs of desktop publishing professionals.
