AMD has released version 2025.Q2.1 of the AMDVLK open-source Vulkan driver, which includes significant updates and enhancements. This version features the latest Khronos Vulkan Headers updated to 1.4.313 and is compliant with the CTS version 1.4.1.3. Notable additions include support for Hawk Point 1 and 2, as well as new extensions such as VK_EXT_image_2d_view_of_3d, VK_EXT_shader_replicated_composites, and VK_KHR_maintenance8. There is also improved queue exposure by default and performance tuning for certain games utilizing the Navi48 architecture.

The update addresses several issues that affected game performance and stability. Notable fixes include resolving flickering in Surge 2 when using Alt+Tab, graphical corruption in Ghost Recon and Far Cry, a memory leak and hang in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and hangs experienced in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Additionally, the update corrects problems with mesh shaders in relation to vk_khr_pipeline_executable_properties and fixes a failure in the CTS test suite for certain logical operations.

This release underscores AMD's commitment to optimizing gaming experiences and ensuring compatibility across various titles, reinforcing its position in the competitive landscape of graphics drivers.

Looking ahead, users can anticipate further improvements in future releases, potentially including enhanced support for emerging technologies and additional performance optimizations tailored to upcoming gaming titles. AMD is likely to continue collaborating with the open-source community to refine its drivers and address user feedback, enhancing the gaming experience across a broad spectrum of hardware configurations
