Microsoft Pushes Internal Testing Windows 2000 SP3!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Just saw this @ Neowin.net:

Thanks Bink of WindowsXP.nu who passed me a copy of this leaked internal document currently doing the rounds at Redmond. It seems either Microsoft is really excited about having MS internals test SP3 at RC level, or their own beta testing team is short coming on the performance gains of this latest Service Pack for Windows 2000. Lets not hint at a guess. In any case it looks like RC1 is out judging from the folder location on their network (bolded in "read more"). If anything, this is a heads up to a possible RTM date for SP3 is July 25th!

Ever Had Doubts That XP Was Spying On You?!

Published by NewsFactory 0

Juts saw this @ our good friends Neowin.net:

Well - guys - exclusivly to Neowin from one of my under-ground sources I can tell you that in Windows XP's Service Pack 1 there is clear spyware.

Windows XP sp1ers have found a registry key setup by the program "Alexa", a subsiduary of Amazon (see link below). On the top link, we can see that Alexa has been found to send detailed information about users to its servers, which im sure not only breaks microsofts privacy statement, but also breaks laws. My source says that the popular anti-spyware program Ad-aware detects elements of the installation as adware, and this registry key confirms it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Extensions > {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003}
