X-bit Labs are reporting Gigabyte didn?t make any official announcements about the launching of new graphics cards based on the chips from the Canadian ATI Company, these cards appeared in Japanese hardware stores this week.

GA-R8500/AGP. This graphics card is built on ATI RADEON 8500 and is equipped with 64MB DDR SDRAM. Its working frequencies are the same as those for RADEON 8500LE: 250MHz core and 500MHz memory. The card has a D-Sub, DVI and TV-Outs and goes with a DVI-to-D-Sub converter.

GA-R7500/AGP. This graphics card on ATI RADEON 7500 chip looks absolutely like the original RADEON 7500 from ATI. The difference makes only the PCB color. The card is equipped with the same 64MB DDR SDRAM and works at 270MHz core and 460MHz memory frequency. The card has a D-Sub, DVI and TV-Outs and goes with a DVI-to-D-Sub converter.

nForce: MSI K7N420 Pro Reviews!

Published by [PM] 0

With nForce solutions almost availble from retail store shelves more & more reviews pop up. Since MSI was first to come up with a ready-timed board most reviews concentrate on MSI: MSI K7N420 @ TBreak: Overclocking wasn't one of K7N420's biggest strengths. The board does offer some overclocking in terms of CPU voltage as FSB speeds. For voltage, you have the option of increasing it by 0.02, 0.05, 0.10 Volts. Even though we upped the voltage on our 1.75V Athlon by 0.10 the BIOS continued to report the Voltage at only 1.77V. For selecting FSB speeds, the board doesn't provide 1MHz increments that we've come to know and love. Product Score: 81 MSI K7N420 @ AMDWorld.co.uk: Memory performance is outstanding, the combination of this board with an external GEFORCE3 is absolutely perfect and also I see no reason why the internal onboard GPU will keep many who are on the upgrade path very pleasantly surprised. It has a big attraction to the OEM market without a doubt and anyone fortunate enough to buy an off the shelf ready built machine with this installed will be very satisfied and still have the option to improve if necessary. Performance Award

Overclocking A Geforce 3!

Our buddies over @ EntCity have posted a nice,small review/article about Overclocking A Geforce 3!. Here´s a bit:
What?s the most important piece of hardware for a gamer? A fast cpu? No. Fast RAM? Nope. It all boils down to your videocard. What?s the most important thing for a visual freak (crazy gamer) An overclocked one. (I am aware that a fast cpu and RAM is important notice how I said MOST important) I took this card up to 220/480 from 200/460, not much but I?m kinda scared from my last overclocking experience to try and find the limit....long story. So head over by using the above link!

Leadtek GeForce 3 TDH Review!

Published by [PM] 0

nVNews has posted a review of Leadtek's GeForce3 TDH video card. How does improved Tv-out display, on-board Hardware Monitoring and the largest GPU/Memory heatsink from the factory sound? Here's a snip: Leadtek's card features Hardware Monitoring courtesy of an onboard Winbond chip (W83783S) connected to a thermistor. The thermistor is located on the left edge of the heatsink and extends underneath the heatsink. The chip is capable of monitoring various on-board settings such as two different temperatures (chip edge and center), as well as GPU and memory voltage settings. The on-board fan is connected by a 3 lead wire - 2 of the wires provide the power to rotate the fan and the third relays information about the fan's rotation speed. 3 HSF Reviewed @ OverClockerCafe!

Published by [PM] 0

OkiDoki, everyone should be after a well performing HSF these days cause Ghz CPU's could turn into smoke if not properly cooled right at startup. OverClockerCafe has taken 3 HSF into their labs to check their cooling abilities: Glaciator II:
Poor contact between the fins and the base can kill a sink's performance. This is why there are so many wildly different results around for the Hedgehog and the Fortis coolers. Some days on the assembly line are better than others. Well, this is not an issue with the Glaciator II. The base and fins are cut from a single piece of copper. OCZ Dominator 2 HSF:
The Dominator 2 gives you a choice of one of two fan options, both of which are attention getters. The first is a Y.S. Tech 60x60x25mm that pushes 40 CFM at 7,200 RPM while making 46 dBA of music for your ears... Thermaltake's Volcano7:
So far, the only players that have stepped up to the plate have been the Swiftech MC-462 and the Alpha PAL8045. Both of these products are VERY FINE heatsinks. Even though these two products are the closest comparisons it is still comparing apples and oranges with these two and the Volcano 7. Thermaltake is attempting to address the performance / noise issue with the first temperature controlled, variable speed heatsink/fan. This is to be a true "active cooling solution.

SiS 315 GPU Review!

Published by [PM] 0

What costs 50 bucks, has an integrated T&L engine, and does environmental bump mapping?
If you answered, "A stolen GeForce3 card", you're right, but that's not the only correct answer. Initially, I thought the 315 was going to be a bit of a dog when it came to performance. I'm pleasantly surprised that it held its own against more established competition. Instead of spending all of its time at the bottom of our pack of budget cards, the 315 took a few opportunities to flex its muscles and take the lead. As one of the select few graphics processors on the market with a really useful T&L engine, the 315 certainly bodes well for SiS's future graphics parts, at least on the low-end.
