Creative Labs recently introduced the Nomad Jukebox Zen a very familiar looking device when thinking of Apple's iPod. It features FireWire and USB support as well as a massive 20Gbyte harddrive. All comes in a nice aluminium casing with a 132 x 64 pixel resolution blue LED backlit display. 268 gram weight including the built-in Li-ion battery makes it an interesting throw at Apple. Suggested retail price is $349. Software included is the PlayCenter 3 for ripping, managing and tranferring files to Zen. Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro WCE Limited Edition

According to this announcement at the Hercules/Guillemot german online shop, there will be a limited edition of the Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro 128MB with a watercooling heatsink by factory default. WCE stands for water cooled edition. German reports say this version will be limited to 99 cards which are hand made by Guillemit factory personel and therefore have full warranty. The cards are said to feature standard 9700 Pro specifications in terms of core and memory speeds and are stress tested for 24 hours before delivery. Price? 550 Euros...

Nvidia NV30 Should Rock At 400 MHz

The Inquirer reports: Sources in the know tell us that 400MHz is what Nvidia is aiming for their NV30 card. I need to clarify things and say we did once hear from a Senior Nvidia executive that, "there is no such thing as this frequency. It's all in the yield," suggesting that chip frequency is being determined after companies have pre-production samples often called A11 silicon.

Overclockability Of Athlon XP 2800+ Processors: They Can't Be Overclocked

Xbitlabs.com reports that unfortunately for AMD has reached the point of the maximal frequency the Thoroughbred can achieve. Our friends from OverClockers.ru web-site managed to grab a sample of the mentioned processor and tried to overclock it.

To their great disappointment, they only succeeded in launching the CPU at 172MHz FSB, while the nominal frequency is 166MHz. The resulting core-speed was 2327MHz. They did not test the processor on stability at this clock as there is no sense to overclock so fast a CPU by 77MHz.

ATI to launch Radeon 9500 and 9700 on the 18th of October 2002

Just spotted that Theinquirer.net has posted details of ATI's upcoming Radeon 9500 and 9700! The 9700 is a slower version of the Pro and the 9500 is aimed @ the Geforce4 TI 4200 market! Here's a snip.

The main difference between the cards will be the memory interface. The Radeon 9700 will use a 256-Bit interface and is planned to compete with Nvidia's Geforce 4 TI 4600. The card will feature 128MB of DDR memory working at 550MHz, an AGP 8X interface, Dual 400MHz Ramdac and all the things that you already saw with Radeon 9700 PRO. But you can expect that this card will be a bit slower than the fastest 9700 PRO. Of course, the card will have full support for DirectX 9.0
