AMD Hammer Processors and x86-64 Technology Preview

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word that Xbitlabs.com have posted a AMD Hammer Processors and x86-64 Technology Preview! here's a snip.

Some time ago we got to know that AMD was preparing the launch of a new processor core, then called K8 (K7 - Athlon). Few people knew anything about the core then. Time brought about the details, one of which was quite shocking: K8 would be a 64-bit processor. The shock was due to the fact that the only 64-bit processor then was Intel Itanium. And that monster was made of a huge amount of transistors, had a non-x86 architecture and cost a fantastic sum. So, we asked if AMD was working on something like that?

Y.T.G Have Done a review on the Zalman CNPS 6500B-AlCu P4 Socket 478 Cooler! Also i would like to mention there site is fully working again now.

I wanted to show how affective this heatsink is by comparing it to the standard Intel cooler that you get when you purchase a new cpu. I am going to run a few benchmarks to see how affective the coolers are while they are being worked to the bones by the programs. I will show what temperature the cpu is when its idle, and when its being worked by certain programs.

RivaStation tried some extreme overclocking tests with the new ATI Radeon 9700 PRO. How far can you get with an extremely overclocked system?

Today I tried some extreme overclocking test with the new ATI Radeon 9700 PRO. How far can you get in an extrem overclocked system? I ran the Radeon 9700 PRO at 400MHz core and 340MHz memoryclock in a Pentium 4 system overclocked to 3624 MHz (ASUS P4T533-C). RIVA Station / THG is currently #1 (I think this will not last too long) 1000 points ahead the old number 1 :-)

Gigabyte's Radeon 9700 Pro - Hitting 400MHz Review

Published by Newsfactory 0

Just got word that Anandtech.com have posted their Gigabyte Radeon 9700 Pro review, this beast can reach the dizzy heights of nearly 400MHz!! Here's a snip.

Powerstrip reported the core clock speed properly at 325MHz and reported the actual operating frequency of the memory at 310MHz (remember that the memory actually runs at 310MHz even though it transfers data twice per clock, which is why it is sometimes called 620MHz memory).

We played around with the settings and managed to overclock the R300 to an incredible 400MHz, an increase of 23%. The memory was only able to hit 337MHz DDR (effectively 674MHz), an increase of 8% but the core overclock was by far the most impressive of the two numbers.

KT400 Does Not Support DDR400

Published by Newsfactory 0

X-bitlabs reports that According to our sources, VIA KT400 can support DDR400, but only with two banks, as a result, mainboards with DDR400 support enabled, cannot function with more than two DDR400 modules. Furthermore, the problem may be even worse and these devices are even not able to work with more than one DDR SDRAM DIMM module running at 400MHz. The reason of such strange KT400 behaviour is a bug in the VT8368 north-bridge that VIA has not yet managed to rectify.
