Early last week, we published two insider reports that hinted OCZ?s progress and plans in the cooling market. To recap, our reports suggested that OCZ is working on heatsinks for enthusiasts at affordable price points, and OCZ may even enter the water-cooling scene should it deem necessary to serve the enthusiast community.

AMD, and its users, sometimes try to make fun of Intel but it looks like he (Intel) who laughs last, laughs best. AMD beat Intel by delivering its 64-bit processors Athlon 64 and Opteron two years ago and by having a slight overall performance edge over Intel's offerings. AMD's offerings also have a better dual-core design and on average they use less power. AMD said it will launch its dual-core mobile Turion 64 processors in early 2006, close to the launch of Intel's Yonah processors. The dual-core Turion 64 features the Socket S1 with 638 pins and will be AMD's first CPU with Pacifica Virtualization Technology.. Read on at DV Hardware

IDF August 2005 :: 955, X800GT, X800GTO - Crossfired

All of the X800 cards from ATI will support Crossfire, including the X800GT and X800GTO. You will need a master card in order to run it and wait for the 2nd driver release. The launch drivers will just support X800XT and X850XT derivatives.

OCZ Ready to Splash with Enthusiast Heatsinks

OCZ Technology is now more associated with its performance power supplies and memory modules in the enthusiast market segment than cooling solutions for microprocessors. A while back, OCZ introduced a series of average heatsinks that were priced competitively, but performed averagely. At the time, they were decent enough to recommend even for slight overclocking adventures, however, the series has just lost touch with the market without updates to the product line.

ATi R520 Core Exposed

It is interesting to see how the upcoming ATi R520 core based on 90nm micron process looks like. Seems like the R520 core is slightly smaller than the 0.13 micron R480 core though it is packed with many more transistors than the latter.
