New ATI hardware supports Shader Model 3.0
The change log for Crytek's 1.32 Far Cry Patch seems to further confirm that ATI's next-gen hardware will support Shader Model 3.0. According to the change long, Crytek has "Fixed a Shader Model 3.0 issue that caused graphics corruption on new ATI hardware."

Desktop DDR3 Modules Ready for Retail in 12 Months
Even though DDR is still a strong choice and isn?t expected to decline much until AMD adopts the DDR2 standard, it looks like DDR3 modules are on the horizon as well. Manufacturers are finally being optimistic about DDR2 sales, and DDR2 has been through various speed steps to actually be a worthwhile standard with Intel platform with 1066MHz system bus. Although the market appears to be optimistic, DDR2 sales aren?t nearly anywhere close to what manufacturers might expect and from what it seems the market is about get crowded a lot more in late 2006.

Well if you are wondering what FX57 performance will be like then you should check out my performance preview here. We take the FX55 San Diego core, and test it at 2.8GHz and 3.0GHz so in effect it could also be a preview of FX59 performance if that part ever comes available. We topped out at just over 3.1GHz for overclocking with the Thermalright XP-90C. Enjoy.
