Graphics IHV's at CeBit 2005
Beyond 3D attended This years CeBit to catch up with the graphics vendors, in order to find out what new happening there are with ATI and NVIDIA and to also catch up with S3 and XGI, who we don?t hear quite as much of, to find out what their outlook on thing is.
The Crystal Ball: ATI's 2005
With the Game Developers Conference behind us and CeBit all but over, we find ourselves in mid-March with a somewhat clearer picture than previously about certain sectors of the hardware industry, nowhere more so than at ATI. Thus, Elite Bastards have sat down and taken a look at the products we can expect to see come through the Canadian firms doors during the remainder of 2005 together with what (if anything) we know about said products.

IBM Mouse Adapter Helps Hand-Tremor Sufferers
At technewsworld.com, Susan B. Shore writes "The adaptor is a box into which both a computer and a mouse are plugged. The device filters out shakes using technology similar to that used in camera lenses to calm the effects of unsteady hands. It can be used with any operating system or computer type without additional software. ". Read here for more.

Nvidia G80 GPU
We confirmed that G70 is the real thing and we learned that Nvidia has one more chip down the road codenamed the G80. We expect it to be based on 90 nanometre and have more pipes than NV40. We don't think that it will be dual graphics core stuff but you never know, you kow.

ATI THEATER 550 PRO Card Roundup @ FiringSquad
With its 3D comb filter and enhanced 5-line 2D filter (among other improvements), ATI's THEATER 550 PRO chip boasts improved image quality over previous ATI offerings. In addition, the chip no longer requires a pass-through cable, supports both PCI and PCI-E interfaces, features a new remote control unit, and most importantly of all, has a built-in MPEG-2 encoder. But what separates ATI's TV WONDER ELITE from other THEATER 550 PRO-based cards? In this article, we've rounded up THEATER 550 PRO boards from ATI, Sapphire, and TUL. See how THEATER 550 PRO looks in comparison to THEATER 200 when capturing TV programming as well as how the cards fare against one another in this article!
Updated AMD Road-Map

Koolance's New ATI X8-series GPU Waterblock
HEXUS.net has managed to get a look at a new GPU waterblock for the X8-series of graphics cards. Koolance have been very innovative with this design.
On the opposite side you can see Koolance's new innovation for this new series of GPU coolers. Dubbed HydraPak, it's a pierce and puncture proof container for the other side of the waterchannel. The material doesn't conduct any electricty whatsoever and cools the back side of the board with direct contact. On a flip-chip design like the X8-series, you can transfer heat away from the bottom of the GPU and to the PCB. Especially with X850 XT, that's a fearsome amount of heat to get rid of and while the X850 XT's cooler does a good job in getting direct heat away from the GPU, there's still plenty radiated from the rear.

The Quest for More Processing Power, Part Two @ AnandTech
In Part 2, we will investigate the advantages and disadvantages of the new market trend: multi-core CPUs. Will dual core enhance your gaming experience? Tim Sweeney, the leading developer behind the Unreal 3 engine, was so kind to answer our questions about multi-threaded development with concise answers. There is more - in the third part of this series, we will investigate what future multi-core and single core architectures will bring. We examine if the stories about "the new era of multi-threaded multi-core CPUs" are true and whether or not this will really benefit the consumer.

Dual-Core Athlon 64 Benchmarked?
Just spotted this bit of Info posted over at TechReport!
The folks at Hardware Upgrade in Italy claim they have benchmarks from a dual-core Athlon 64 from CeBit. The chip is apparently an engineering sample running at 2.4GHz, and it manages to outperform slightly a pair of Opteron 250s running at the same clock speed. Not too shabby, if it's real.

Sapphire's 'Grouper' to take on nForce 4
ATi graphics card owners will have probably heard of Sapphire. In fact, there's a good chance they have an ATi card with a Sapphire badge on it. At CeBIT however, Sapphire are displaying not a new ATi graphics card, but rather a new 'enthusiast motherboard' based on an ATi chipset. Performance of the board, codenamed 'Grouper' is claimed to equal or better that of NVIDIA's nForce 4 chipset. The sample on display is also in a very unique, yet attractive colour scheme. HEXUS.net have details from CeBIT.
