Because of the positive feedback the last time I once again did some serious web crawling to dig those out. Read on to find out if your drive is among those ready to be updated. Liquid Crystal Displays or as they are more commonly know LCD's are made up of many different layers that are pressed together. Liquid Crystal, onto its self is a special type of fluid that has cylinder looking crystals that can alter light as it passes through it. This fluid is "pressed" between Aligning layers (which have fine grooves) and the crystals basically line up in these grooves, when pressed together. The next layer to be added would be a polarized filter. It is used to allow or block a polarized light from shining through, depending on where voltage is applied.

Cool is the word that comes to my mind first here. Reduced noise is what our friend Dean achieved along the way. Here is a snip: The Thermaltake Volcano 7 [has been altered] with some modding to the thermal sensor on the fan! We've removed the thermal sensor and opened the Volcano7 up by running the 80mm at 53cfm, 5000 rpm and only 39 dB...finally we have decent cooling without all the noise! Read more @ 3DXtreme.

ReactorCritical shows the way to almost fail-safe identification of your Radeon 8500 in terms of clock specs: Look at the back of your card. Identify your card via the P/N Number on the backside sticker: RADEON 8500 (275 MHz): 1028571100 RADEON 8500 LE (250 MHz): 1028571200 RADEON 8500 LELE (230 MHz): 1028571500 The 102 in the PN means ATI. The next three numbers is a modification of PCB, "857" in case of RADEON 8500. The next four figures is technological information. Thanks to RC for the information.
