Nforce 4 Pic

Published by Newsfactory 0

Fido over at The Inquirer has snagged a picture of MSI's Nforce 4 motherboard!

You will notice that board has only one chip covered with active cooler, PCIe 16X slot and two PCIe 1X slots, four PCI slots where one is possibly 266 MB/s fast, four memory slots, marvels eight SATA ports four of them controlled or helped by silicon image chip. The board still has two IDE channels and a floppy connector. A Via chip in front of PCIe 16X slot was one of the things that created a nice smile on my face. What an irony.

I'VE Extolled the virtues of quality power supplies so many times that saying they're the most often overlooked PC component feels like a cliche. But it's true. In my experience, poor quality generic-brand power supplies are often the root of PC stability problems. Also, as new processors and graphics cards demand more power than ever before, quality power supplies are becoming more important.

R480 to come in the fourth quarter

Published by [NT] 0

ATI'S NEXT FASTEST graphic thing will be based on 0.11µ (micron) architecture. This is the natural direction for ATI to migrate from 0.13µ low K marchitecture to pure 0.11µ without low K. When you make things smaller you can possibly clock a chip even higher, but we don't have any idea what frequency ATI is aiming for. That's exactly where its R480 chip is at this time.
