It's an unfortunate fact that hard disk drives are rather slow at storing and retrieving data. Sure they are faster than CDs, linear backup tapes and other removable media, but compared to actual computer memory, they lag behind massively. The mechanical nature of hard disk technology will always hold it back when compared to a purely electronic storage devices such as a stick of RAM. The thing is, our reliance on hard drives has if anything increased over the years, while the technology they are based on has changed little.

You'll want to find one that has some sort of an AGP/PCI lock or working divider. Since the motherboad manufactures won't come flat out and tell you wants going on you'll have find out yourselves. Good thread on that Here (once you skip over the Oclocking posts) Irregardless of how it works, the fact is that some boards will do well over 300FSB and some won't.

Overclocking, once the shadowy mystic domain of the horned rimmed glasses and pocket protector crowd, has moved more into the mainstream today. While in days of old you had to modify hardware, change jumpers, flick dip switches and pray to the computer Gods to get more "juice" out of your system, today's chipset producers and motherboard manufactures often include features in the BIOS designed specifically for easy overclocking and tweaking. With some caution and guidance even a novice can take a 2500+ AMD CPU and overclock it to 3200+ with little danger to one's system.
