GameAxis has thrown up their Doom III Exclusive Interview with id's Tim Willits and Todd Hollenshead on id Software's upcoming first person shooter Doom III, which includes a few details about Quake 4! Here's a snip.

We were lucky enough to be treated to the Doom 3 demo TWICE. After our first interview session of the day, we made our way to a small darkened room in the corner of the corridor. The wall-sized banner that spelt ?Doom III? greeted me as I was introduced to Tim Willits and Todd Hollenshead. Of course, when we found out that we were going to watch the demo on a 42? plasma screen, our adrenaline got the ol' heart pumping. We grabbed a couple of mints for fear of feeling majorly nauseated halfway into the demo.

Gamers Hell are reporting that Gabe Newell (?) sent us a mail letting us supposedly know that the 'news' posted on Shacknews yesterday (story) is a fake and that Half-Life 2 has gone Gold and in production now. Here's the official word:

3dgamers.com reports that Rockstar Games has released no fewer than five movie trailers for Max Payne 2: the Fall of Max Payne, revealing more from the third-person shooter that is nearing completion at Remedy Entertainment. The five clips come in regular and very high resolutions, and four of them sport brief but explosive gameplay sequences while the fifth offers the first glimpse of the game's graphic novel, for a total running time of a bit over two minutes.

The previously announced September 30th release date for Half-Life 2 is being pushed back. We are currently targeting a holiday release, but do not have a specific "in-store" date to share at this time. We will release that information as soon as we have confirmed a new date.

PC Zone Magazine have snagged some exclusive Half - Life 2 footage! in the form of a preview disc from Valve Software.

we almost had a group cardiac arrest. Seeing the words "Half-Life 2" and "Preview" and a silhouette of one Gordon Freeman, we leaped up and down with excitement - "It's preview code!" one cried out in ecstasy, spraying spittle and waving arms around in anapoplectic manner. Then, like an odd moment of calm in a storming sea, a slightly more observant onlooker pointed out the word "Trailer" under "Preview". D'oh.

I don't know how real this is but if the rumours are true then spitcodfry could have it spot on! :D could we have announcement today or tomorrow?

I cannot believe I just now remembered this, but when I was on the tour, Gabe told me that Steam would begin to send Half-Life 2 the game to individual's hard drives a week before it released via Steam. I'm assuming this is for people that choose in advance to get it from there.

Activision has released not one but two playable demos for Empires: Dawn of the Modern World, allowing you to try out this upcoming 3D RTS game by Stainless Steel Studios. The first demo is single-player only and offers two playable scenarios. The second is multiplayer and offers one single-player scenario (not the same as the two included in the SP demo) and a random multiplayer map playable online or against a computer opponent.

NVIDA's Money Lures EIDOS To Pull Patch

EIDOS Interactive, the publisher for Tomb Raider:
Angel of Darkness issued a patch a couple of weeks ago for the game which happened to include a way to use the game as a DX9 benchmark. Since it shows NVIDIA hardware performing slower than ATI, EIDOS has pulled it down. Remember, this is a "Way it's meant to be played" game, which means NVIDIA has paid EIDOS marketing money. Commandos 3 Final Demo

Eidos Interactive has now released the final playable demo for Commandos 3: Destination Berlin, offering a renewed opportunity to try out Pyro Studios' imminent squad-based tactical combat sequel. As before, the demo contains a Tutorial and the full Train mission from the Central Europe campaign, but it also demonstrates the more polished state of the game.
