Word is: "This new iteration of the Battle of Britain map is to pre-empt an issue that would have arisen with the release of the 1.45 patch. Valve Software has released a new movie trailer of Half-Life 2, sharing another excerpt from the E3 demonstration of their upcoming first-person shooter sequel. This Barricade gameplay movie features a bit over two minutes of action-packed combat footage where Gordon Freeman and friends fight a street battle around, obviously, an enemy barricade.

3DGamers.com reports that Ubi Soft has released new patches for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, bringing the US, Canadian (French), UK, German, French and Spanish editions (with Italian updates presumably still to follow) of their squad-based tactical shooter to version 1.4. This release adds improved animations, multiplayer messaging spam filters, gameplay enhancements, and a dozen bug fixes as detailed in the accompanying release notes. A corresponding dedicated server is available as well, either as a full install or an update from the previous v1.31.

Electronic Arts has now released the playable demo for Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII, allowing you to try out this upcoming expansion pack for the 3D multiplayer action game by Digital Illusions. This demo contains the Hellendoorn map, location of a rocket launch site that was one of the most successful sites and is credited with the successful destruction of the Remagen Bridge, the last left standing over the Rhine. Also included are a selection of new weapons and vehicles from the add-on.

Activision and id Software have released the final map for Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, available via download through Xbox Live, the new level, titled Chateau! The map can be played in the game's Stopwatch and Elimination multiplayer modes! Allied players must infiltrate a German occupied Chateau being used as a Nazi base of operations, locate secret documents, and transmit them back to U.S. headquarters while in the midst of combat.

A chatlog on qith Valve Software at ModDataBase.com reveals word by Valve's Gary McTaggart: "Anti-aliasing has been fixed for all cards." This is actually good news after the recent discussion if and under which circumstances HL2 would be able to run with Anti Aliasing enabled. Further of note is that Valve will be delivering a detailed benchmark before the game ships, where you can run a particular card through any of the DirectX levels where appropriate..
