NewsWare have posted a Half-Life 2 gameplay video which requires registration with NewsWare and a 160 MB download! So I don't know if this is a new or old video.

I have the Half-Life 2 Gameplay video available for all our members. This video is coded in DivX and it's about 160MB. Because of the size you can only download this file if you're a member. I hope you can understand that!

UT2003 Mod: Troopers - Dawn of Destiny Demo To Be Released Today

Formerly know as Troopers - Rise Of The Rebellion, the highly anticipated UT2003 mod will be released as a demo version today, Dan ?ViperEye? Tennant announced yesterday on the official website. The battlefields upon which the gameplay of Troopers will take place will include many of the well-known and recognizable locations from the original Star Wars trilogy. They comprise a wide and varied selection, and are sure to entertain any demographic. The demo will contain 3 different maps as well as three player models including the Stormtrooper and the Fleet Rebel with six distinct skins.

FilePlanet have thrown up the multiplayer demo of Midnight Club II for FilePlanet and Founders' Club subscribers. The demo includes 3 vehicles, the popular L.A. level and 4 modes of play. Online play is available for up to 8 players.

Analysis Of 007: Agent Under Fire Save Game Hack

Xbox-linux.sourceforge.net reports that the 007:AUF save game hack was released on March-29-03, to a lot of skepticism, mostly due to the proximity to April Fools day! It turned out that the hack was real, and now the full details of how it works are being revealed. The author of the hack never explained how it worked, and some effort was made to make reverse engineering it difficult. Nevertheless, after some quick analysis, it was figured out within a few days of being released.

Tenebrae v1.04 Released

Tenebrae is a modification of the quake source that adds stencil shadows and per pixel lights to quake. Stencil shadows allow for realistic shadow effects on every object in the game world. Per pixel lighting allows you to have fine surface details correctly lit. These are essentially the same algorithms as used by the new Doom game.

Counter Strike 1.6 & Updated Steam Client v2.0 Released

Gamershell.com reports that after almost half a year of closed beta testing the Steam Beta is entering its final phase, and is now open to the public (again). To enter this beta, simply download and run the 500K installer. Steam, a broadband platform for the delivery and management of digital content, currently features a variety of Valve games including Counter-Strike 1.6, which introduces the new riot shield, the official CS bot and more. Valve is also planning to deliver Half-Life 2 over the Steam technology this year.

Anachronox: The Movie is a tour-de-force. One of the finest Machinima films produced to date, and probably the most accomplished Machinima feature to date. Hell, it managed to hold two over-worked jury members in a room for two and a half hours before the MFF 2002 - what more can we say?

Valve Trying To Sell Half-Life Movie Rights - New UT2003 Audio DLL

According to a story in today's Variety, Valve has been actively talking with Hollywood studios about a Half-Life feature movie project. The new movie talks are timed to follow up on all the attention Half-Life 2 received at E3 2003, and Valve's Doug Lombardi is quoted as saying that Valve is looking to for a project that would extend the elements of the game and broaden the franchise's audience. The talks are at an early stage and no details are available. The Unreal technology website now offers an updated DefOpenAL32.dll for UT2003 version 2225. The update fixes spatialization issues with the default software mixer.

Battlefield 1942: Battle Of Britain Bonus Map Released

Electronic Arts sends along a new map for Battlefield 1942, expanding the multiplayer 3D action game by Digital Illusions with the Battle of Britain. As usual, the map comes in client and standalone server variants, it offers new Junkers Ju88 (on the German side) and Radar Tower (English side) weapons. This map requires version 1.4 of the full game.

Enemy Territory Map Editor Released

Activision has released the map editing tools for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, the free team-based multiplayer first-person shooter by Splash Damage. This GtkRadiant-ET package contains everything needed to create new maps and content for the game, but is not supported by Splash Damage, id Software or Activision.

I was just over at Doomvision when I noticed some new DOOM III screenshots and a scan from this months PCGamer where they chat with ID's Tim Willits about how DOOM III is developing. Willits also comfirms the 4 man mutli-player mode "Last Man Standing" and Deathmatch! Preliminary DOOM III system requirements have been posted by some think tanks and finally they say that the DOOM III demo might be out some time in August (Quakecon?).

BREED Featuring Enhanced Rendering Technology

The folks at Brat Designs have been very busy fine tuning BREED. Though they're still working on the game's multiplayer mode, most of the models have already been refurbished. But that's not all: BREED now features Nvidia's enhanced rendering technology with special CG-shaders that are being used for the new water shader in the game. There are a bunch of new screenshots of how this looks, so check out the official homepage for some fabulous eye candy! Oh my dear ATI, where art thou?
