Halo 3 Demo Coming Early Next Year?

We?re titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn?t revealed any details yet, but we wouldn?t be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches.

Sierra has released a new round of patch for the retail and free Combat editions of F.E.A.R. to bring the supernatural first-person shooter by Monolith Productions to version 1.08. This release is vaguely described as fixing "several issues," As always the patches are accompanied by corresponding Win32 and Linux dedicated servers and an updated public tools kit.

EA released a patch for Battlefield 2142 today, and I noticed this while looking through its ReadMe:

"Players who have the Windows security update KB917422 installed may suffer from an application error when running Battlefield 2142. This error can be solved by uninstalling the KB917422 update."

Battlefield 2142 Patch v1.01

Electronic Arts has issued the first retail patch for Battlefield 2142, updating the just-released futuristic multiplayer 3D action game by Digital Illusions to version 1.01. This upgrade addresses a client side crash in Titan mode, and it's accompanied by corresponding Unranked dedicated servers v1.0.9.1 in the usual Win32 and Linux flavors.

Tipper Nic directs our attention to this forum post, where we read of a disheartening little slip of paper that suggests some seriously gross spyware will be installed along with Battlefield 2142, all in the name of in-game advertising:
