This patch affects mostly Multiplayer mode of the game: after-game and before-game messaging has been improved, added random side challenges and an option to enforce victory in the time-out games. Also special message with achievements is being shown when advanced to new rank and smart replay name generation has been added. Some other bug fixes and gameplay improvements have been made, including the support of wide screen resolutions (useful for the latest laptops).

For Halo 2 multiplayer, Bungie wanted to focus on the social aspects of gaming. That means you can expect full use of Xbox Live 3.0, but in ways no one else has yet conceived. While those details have not yet been revealed, most of our questions about standard Live 3.0 fare was met with "Oh, we're doing something infinitely cooler." For those who truly want to sit on a couch with a buddy, split-screen and System Link will still be there.

let's get to the real reason you're here: to read about how the game plays. I booted up the 3.4GHz Radeon 9800XT equipped machine and waded into Half-Life 2. I started up the demo and was told that the first scene I would be playing was about 10 minutes into the game, after a brief introduction by our old friend the G-Man.

3D Gamers reports that there's another new movie trailer for The Sims 2, showing yet more from the 3D virtual life simulation sequel in the works at Maxis. This clip sports a minute and a half of in-game footage that involves a desparate single Sim, sneaky activities and strange drinks.

The eagerly anticipated patch for Painkiller is now available, upgrading the frantic first-person shooter by People Can Fly to version 1.15. This release adds a new map called DM_Cursed, new warmup options, demo recording and playback, a new spectator mode, a voting system, other multiplayer enhancements, experimental forward-looking prediction code, single-player improvements, bug fixes, and more.

ATi today launced the X800 graphics card and had machine exhibits ready for attendees to see the ?Ruby? demo. The Ruby demo has been released onto CD for attendees to view and see the effects that the X800 can render in real time. The demo was very impressive but was not a touch on the demo by Gabe Newell from Valve. This stole the whole keynote to actually see some new footage from Half Life 2. Again we got the whole video which is approximately 3 minutes long and as soon as we find somewhere with firewire we?ll get it on here asap because it?s one to watch!

So what is Halo Custom Edition (HaloCE) you ask? Simply put, it is a new version of HaloPC that is free for all HaloPC owners. This unsupported version of HaloPC is a stand alone Gearbox Software release and is not supported by Microsoft.

In an unusual move, SimBin has released the playable press demo of GTR, their upcoming FIA GT racing simulator, for the public. Awkwardly, the demo is still protected by a password though, so you'll need to enter "GTR_Press_Demo" during installation. The demo contains the Spa track, drivable in the Lister Storm and Morgan Aero 8 cars, but as a work-in-progress release it doesn't offer the polish expected from an official public demo.
