Just got word from Maccell aka Italian Boy over at 3DFxzone.it that their new MesaFX 6.1: Voodoo 4/5 driver version 6.1.0.9 are out and are ready to test with Doom 3.

These are modified/hacked ATI Catalyst drivers. The drivers have been optimized with two things in mind, better Image Quality and more/stable frames per second when compared to the official Catalyst drivers from ATI!

3DChipset have thrown up a small comparison about Catalyst 4.7 and 4.8. Hope you can find what's improved! All in all, the performance increases are quite small to even bother upgrading. It's better to consider more if this new drivers help you resolving some bugs or other stability issues rather than speed.

Just got word that Knyz has posted a new version of the Spirit Driver. Spirit Driver V1.5 are based on Official Catalyst 4.8. Changelog :

Update: from Rage 3D, Just got off of the wire with Terry Makedon, aka CATALYSTmaker, in which it has been noted that ATi will be soon releasing their newest driver suite, CATALYST 4.8! Exact release date has yet to be announced, yet expect them to be ready for downloading early next week.

Our bro's over at Station-drivers send news that they've snagged a new set of Forceware Drivers in the shape of 65.62 from Dell for Windows 2000/XP! The files are dated 26 July 2004! All Cards Supported after a ini alteration as these drivers were meant for Nvidia's Quadro series.

I've been talking back and forth to a driver tester for nVidia and he has spat back some results of a beta 65.xx driver that is in his possession. Now you can take this as a grain of salt or otherwise. I'm here to be the medium for him to share what his results are of this driver on his test system he uses for work. He also sent me 2 files along with the excel file of 3DMark03 and the results listed below. The 2 files are one from 65.05 DLL and the other from a pre-alpha 70.01 DLL. There has been quite a controversy about DOOM3 and ATI OpenGl drivers. We know already that the ATI driver is not up to par with NVIDIA?s best, kind of like the other side of the coin. The driver is functional, and lately it has become quite stable, but the performance has always been questioned.

Just got word that Radeonthetop has posted a new version of the Sprit Driver V1.4.1b based on the Catalyst 4.9 beta.

Realtek released version 3.62 driver for their ALC AC97 audio chipsets. The driver supports all ALC series audio chipsets from ALC100 up to ALC850 mainly used as onboard sound on various motherboards.
