In this comparison we don't want to test the improvements in games or bug fixes, but the increase in speed with the newer versions. Update: from Rage 3D, Just got off of the wire with Terry Makedon, aka CATALYSTmaker, in which it has been noted that ATi will be soon releasing their newest driver suite, CATALYST 4.8! Exact release date has yet to be announced, yet expect them to be ready for downloading early next week.

Our bro's over at Station-drivers send news that they've snagged a new set of Forceware Drivers in the shape of 65.62 from Dell for Windows 2000/XP! The files are dated 26 July 2004! All Cards Supported after a ini alteration as these drivers were meant for Nvidia's Quadro series.

Beta 65.xx Forceware Tested @ 3DChipset

I've been talking back and forth to a driver tester for nVidia and he has spat back some results of a beta 65.xx driver that is in his possession. Now you can take this as a grain of salt or otherwise. I'm here to be the medium for him to share what his results are of this driver on his test system he uses for work. He also sent me 2 files along with the excel file of 3DMark03 and the results listed below. The 2 files are one from 65.05 DLL and the other from a pre-alpha 70.01 DLL. There has been quite a controversy about DOOM3 and ATI OpenGl drivers. We know already that the ATI driver is not up to par with NVIDIA?s best, kind of like the other side of the coin. The driver is functional, and lately it has become quite stable, but the performance has always been questioned.
