KOTAKU JAPAN: Day Two/No Internal HDD for the PS3?
Howdy! It?s Brian A. from Kotaku Japan checking in. News sites here are abuzz with the latest flying through the rumor mill. A writer at Famitsu, the country?s premiere game mag, says that the PS3?s HDD won?t be internal and sold as a peripheral to be attached to a 2.5 inch slot on the console. Guess that?s the wack boomerang looking thingy that some have referred to as a controller.
Router functions were dropped from PS3 spec
The PlayStation 3 was originally intended to act as a home network router, according to Sony Computer Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi, who has revealed that the functionality has been dropped because it would have been too expensive.

Xbox360 and PS3 CPUs Suck Incredibly Bad
This article was posted over at Anandtech at the weekend and then was mysteriously pulled but luckily for us Google have an archive.
Right now, from what we've heard, the real-world performance of the Xenon CPU is about twice that of the 733MHz processor in the first Xbox. Considering that this CPU is supposed to power the Xbox 360 for the next 4 - 5 years, it's nothing short of disappointing. To put it in perspective, floating point multiplies are apparently 1/3 as fast on Xenon as on a Pentium 4.

Xbox 360 Interview with Richard Huddy
First of all we have 48 unified shaders all running in parallel. That gives us roughly three times the graphics power of existing high end PC hardware. In this context 48 is a huge number! The original Xbox had just one vertex shader and four pixel shader pipes.

Since Microsoft announced their next generation console platform, XBOX 360, at this years E3 various aspects of the technology have been spoken of including ?Xenos? (formerly rumoured as ?R500?), the graphics processor for the console.
