Go look up a skin called LayerOne. It's available at www.metaskins.net for example and it totally rules.
It's small and regularly shaped so it's actually useable (doesn't look like a boomerang and takes up half your screen like so many other stupid skins), buttons have symbols humans can decipher (ie, play button actually looks like a play button etc), it has great VIS modes, manymany good color schemes and it's just overall an excellent skin.
I use it now in the Shade mode and with 80% transparency. Looks awesome when it sits in the upper right corner of the screen with AVS next to it.
