'Slipstream' DirectX 9 To XP

Published by

This is a guide about adding the DirectX 9.0 OPK to the Windows XP Professional w/ SP1 OPK. You need OPK versions of XP and DirectX to do this!

You can choose to preinstall DirectX 9.0 as part of the GUI-mode setup or as part of the Mini-Setup with Sysprep. Consult the Windows XP OPK documentation for details on these options.

Pre-installing DirectX 9.0 with factory mode using Setup Manager and Preinstalled Applications

1. Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to your existing OPKTools share (most likely C:OPKTools)

2. Create a subfolder under OPKTools called UPDATES

3. Copy the dx9xpopk.exe into this folder

4. Launch the Windows XP Setup Manager tool.

5. Modify an existing or create a new configuration set using Windows XP with Service Pack 1

6. Navigate to the Preinstalled Applications Page and then click Add

7. Enter a friendly name and the path to the Executable (the UPDATES folder that you created above). NOTE: You do not need any switches to install the OPK version of DirectX 9.0.
