Just over two weeks ago, Intel officially released the Pentium 4 3.0C on to the market, along with their new 875P (Canterwood) chipset. The 3.0C's major new feature was an 800 MHz front side bus speed, which combined with the 875P's dual channel DDR-400 interface and Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT) made the new Pentium 4 processors the top of the performance heap. As Intel's previous Pentium 4 3.06 GHz with a "lowly" 533 MHz front side bus speed was already holding the PC performance crown, it was already expected by most publications that an updated faster Pentium 4 processor would crush the competition.
