After an extended beta period as "Schizo" DivX 5.0.4 makes its appearance. The advanced encoding tool EKG is only available in the Pro version. Also the DivX Player has been updated to version 2.1, featuring ATI FULLSTREAM support with the upcoming Catalyst 3.3 drivers.

* Auto-installing skins. DivX Player skins may now be installed by simply double-clicking on the skin file. There is no longer a need to manually move the skin file to the Skins directory. What's Improved in DivX Player 2.1: * Open URL... functionality. The "Open URL..." functionality of the DivX Player has been re-written to improve performance. The GUI is also re-designed to improve feedback during the download process. The "Open URL..." functionality now also supports FILE URLs. What's Fixed in DivX Player 2.1: * A bug where the Player would revert to the default skin on restart if you pressed "Apply" and then "OK" on the Choose Player Skin dialog instead of just pressing "OK."
* A bug where you could not play files for which you had the correct codec installed after you attempted to play a file for which you did not have the correct codec installed.
* A bug that caused a "Tag 85" audio playback error when playing back certain files with MP3 audio. This would occur on systems that did not have an ACM codec for MP3 audio playback (even if the systems did have a DirectShow filter for MP3 audio playback). (This is fixed on the majority of systems we can test, although the bug remains on a small number of systems. Let us know if you still see it.)
* A bug that would cause the newsletter signup dialog to appear occasionally even after you checked the "Do Not Ask Me Again" checkbox.
* A bug where the error message "This file cannot be opened. Unknown exception caught" would be displayed when you attempted to play a video file containing an audio track in a format not supported on your computer. This will now display a more descriptive alert message.
* A bug that would cause movie downloading/buffering to continue even if an error was encountered during the Open URL... process.
