An MS Office Alternative: OpenOffice.org 1.1.1b Reviewed

Published by

OpenOffice.org 1.1.1b was released not too long ago, so I decided to take it for a spin and see how well it competed against MS Office 2003. Here's a quick quote from the review...

There is one feature which I found annoying at first, but after a few minutes got used to it and found it very useful. The Word Completion feature saves the user time by suggesting a word while you are typing. For example, when typing the word ?feature?, by the time the letters ?fea? are typed, OpenOffice.org suggest that the word you are trying to type is indeed ?feature? and highlights the word for you. A simple enter on the keyboard accepts the word. The Word Completion feature can be disabled for those that find it annoying by simply clicking Tools > AutoCorrect/AutoFomat > Word Completion tab. Yet if you learn to use this feature, you will find that it saves tons of typing time. The options for the Word Completion feature are extensively adjustable.
