Flexbeta.net reviews the new scanning engine found in Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition.

Lavasoft this week introduced Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition which promises to take the fight against spyware to the next level by adding more features. According to the Lavasoft site, most of the improvements in this build are under the hood; the scanning engine has been updated to scan faster and deeper. We wanted to test the scanning capabilities of this latest release to see if indeed it did go beyond previous builds in scanning and finding more spyware.

So we prepared a test system using VMWare Workstation, infected it with a list of applications know to contain spyware, and scanned the system with both Ad-Aware 6 Build 6.181 then scanned the system using the new Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition to see if Ad-Aware 6 had left anything behind. Of course, both version of Ad-Aware were updated to the latest definitions before scanning. We will also look at other changes in this new release, such as the user interface.
