Why is Windows Mobile considered more of a platform than a mere OS? It simply provides more applications, it's just that simple. Neither Symbian nor Mobile Linux has begun to approach Windows Mobile with regard to the sheer number of applications that are currently available.
Besides the actual software availability numbers, I have always felt that Windows Mobile has a better foothold in the mobile software market than its alternatives. It?s better defined, easier to install or even the simple fact that you know that once it?s installed, it will work as expected. We must not forget that the applications can indeed make the difference with regard to the success or failure of a mobile OS.
